Health and Wellbeing Day 2020- The Year It Went Virtual

On Friday 25th September 2020, The Brothers of Charity Services held our first ever Virtual Health and Wellbeing Day. Our staff and the people we support were all invited to join the Zoom event which was a huge success. It is more important than ever to look after our Health and wellbeing as we are nearing the end of a very difficult year due to Covid-19. This may not have been our usual Health and Wellbeing Day, but this didn’t stop us from having lots of fun, whilst catching up with some familiar faces. It was smiles all round!

There was a variety of exciting health and wellbeing related activities planned for the day, including a Macmillan Coffee Morning, Be Holistic showing self-help techniques, Zumba and a quiz.

Liz Keeble from Be Holistic carried out a session showing everyone self-help techniques. Liz is a fully insured Holistic Therapist based in Crosby and offers therapy to treat a great deal of disorders such as stress, anxiety, muscular aches and pains and digestive complaints. As part of our HealthBOCS initiative, the Brothers of Charity Services are offering staff and the people we support a variety of alternative therapy treatments on a complementary basis. Liz will be coming in over the next couple of months to offer treatments to clients and service users. Contact HR to be booked on. Find out more here.

During the event, we had a tombola raising money for  the amazing Macmillan Cancer Support. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part and to Claire Whittle who kindly donated the prizes for the Tombola. Altogether we raised an fantastic £46.24.

With it being National Fitness day on Wednesday 23rd September we had some Zumba Dance videos which everyone enjoyed! National Fitness Day celebrates the unifying power of fitness across the UK and highlights the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle.

We would also like to thank the following companies that kindly donated a range of items and food for our event:

  • Medicash
  • Mind
  • Asda
  • Makaton
