Health BOCS October 2016 Update

Last month we promoted:

 World Alzheimer’s Month – September 2016

To raise awareness of World Alzheimer’s Month, the official marketing materials from http://www.worldalzmonth.org/en where shown on the reception screen at Thingwall Hall and Lisieux Hall.

 Jeans for Genes Day

Brothers of Charity Services took part in Jeans for Genes Day 2016 on Friday 23rd September.

Staff were able to wear jeans to work for a small donation of £1 on the day.

We would like to thank all the staff that took part and helped organise the day as we managed to raise £30 between the two sites.

1 in 25 children inherit a genetic disorder through their genes which makes their life very difficult. By pulling on a pair of jeans, the donations that we collected will be helping to fund the vital care and support services that transform their lives.

 Macmillan Coffee Morning

Brothers of Charity Services held a Coffee Morning on Friday 30th September, in the Chapel at Thingwall Hall and Greater Manchester to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. The Resource Centre organised the event and everyone from the Thingwall Hall and Greater Manchester sites was able to go along and take part.

There was plenty of cake and coffee all around and the morning was finished off with a game of bingo.

We managed to raise £60.30!

We would like to thank all the staff and support workers that helped organise and help out throughout the day.

This is the fourth year of the national challenge and over the past three that it has been ran, it has encouraged over 1 million people to quit smoking.

We encourage everyone who does smoke to take part in this challenge and see if you can quit!
