Last month we promoted:

Movember

The Movember Foundation is the only charity tackling men’s health on a global scale, year round. Committed to disrupting the status quo, millions have joined the movement, raising over £440m and funding over 1,200 projects focusing on prostate cancer, testicular cancer and suicide prevention.

There are three ways to get involved to support men’s health: Grow a moustache, challenge yourself to Move, or Host an event.

The Men’s Group from Brothers of Charity Services in Merseyside are taking part in Movember and growing a moustache to raise awareness of the cause.

Find out more information on Movember here.

Alcohol Awareness Week – 14th to 20th November

This year Alcohol Concern are focusing on alcohol and health, and knowing the risks associated with alcohol.

In January 2016, the guidance around recommended limits of alcohol was updated by the CMO. The new guidance states that the limits for both men and women are the same – which is to not drink more than 14 units a week, and spreading these units evenly over 3 or more days.

Find out more about Alcohol Awareness Week here.

Information about Alcohol Awareness Week will be shown on the Reception Screens at both Thingwall Hall and Lisieux Hall.

Children in Need – 18th November

The Brothers of Charity Services in England supported Children in Need and fund-raised to help change children’s lives with ‘Dress Down Friday’ on 18th November!

Read more about our ‘Dress Down Friday’ here.

Imageink, our ‘drop in’ base in Liverpool, held a Children in Need Day on 18th November at the Hetherlow Centre in Walton. All proceeds were donated to Children in Need.

BBC Radio Merseyside visited and kicked off the day with Pudsey Bear taking part in the ‘Exercise for Pudsey’ event, Prize Bingo, Decorate a Pudsey Bear, Quiz and Karaoke with coffee, tea and cakes for sale.

Foodbank

We will be holding a foodbank throughout December for Help the Homeless, Chorley in Lancashire, the Manchester Central Foodbank in Greater Manchester and the Whitechapel Centre in Merseyside, and would all much appreciate food and hygiene donations!

These charities are dedicated to supporting the homeless in Merseyside, Manchester and Lancashire. They have the vision of putting an end to homelessness by providing practical, realistic and tailored support to each individual to hopefully help them find a route out of homelessness and achieve their individual potential.

They are asking for people to give them a helping hand and generously donate these items so they can be given out to the people that they support.

As we are supporting these charities for our 2016 Santa Stroll’s, it would be greatly appreciated if you could make a small donation of food, hygiene items or even both to each area reception.
