The Brothers of Charity Services have various Social Enterprises for adults with learning disabilities; services are designed to support people to develop skills with confidence in a supportive working environment whilst offering services in the local community.
The social enterprises carryout lots of great, fun, activities for the people we support and the local communities to get involved with. Here you will be able to find out what each of the social enterprises have been up to this week.
Crafty Uniforms
Our amazing team at Crafty Uniforms have spent hours patiently sorting through bags and boxes of patterns that have been kindly donated over the past few months. We now have several organised boxes of knitting, crochet and sewing patterns for our lovely crafty customers to search through to their hearts content. Please feel free to pop in to have a look!
Thank you so much for all the amazing donations we’ve received recently! We have had more than 50 people donate items in January and here are the ones that we managed to record. Please accept our humble apologies if we have missed you off!
We’re so truly blessed and without all your kind donations we could not continue, so please keep them coming. You are all truly wonderful, kind hearted folks!
Our team of arty crafters have been hard at work again preparing some beautiful table decorations for Valentine’s Day. Don’t you think they did a beautiful job!

Hands on Gardening and Heaton Street
Last week’s snow made it tricky for our Gardening Enterprises, Hands on Gardening and Heaton Street, to carry out their weekly rounds, but they have been kept busy carefully re-potting and pruning the large bonsai trees kept on display at The Walled Garden.
Our Hands on Gardening team visited Brockholes Nature Reserve this week and come across this intriguing stone circle, which was constructed by staff at the reserve. As well as the floating village and numerous lakes to support a wide range of wildlife, there are many lovely trails to walk on. In the future we hope to do some volunteering here but with spring approaching we will soon be busy working on our customers’ gardens!
We have had a new team member join us at Heaton Street just in time for the gardening season! Martin will be working with our team and is looking forward to the new challenges ahead.

Hands on Recycling
This is the baler machine which we use to make waste cardboard in to compact bales! It’s an easy, simple and effective way for our team to recycle cardboard boxes. Our team then pack the bales into containers at Duxbury which are then sent on to the recycling depot.

The Walled Garden
