Social Enterprise Blog 07/08/18

The Brothers of Charity Services have various social enterprises for adults with learning disabilities; these services are designed to support people to develop skills with confidence in a supportive working environment whilst offering services in the local community.

The social enterprises carryout lots of great, fun activities for the people we support and the local communities to get involved with. Here you will be able to find out what each of the social enterprises have been up to this week.

Crafty Uniforms

The team at Crafty Uniforms received a very generous donation of art and craft materials last week from a very kind person. The items will be sorted, bagged up and used towards raising funds for the enterprise and also used for some of their community craft sessions that the team organise. Thank you to all the kind people who donate; everyone at Crafty is very grateful, no matter how large or small the donation.

Taking part in a summer event or having a BBQ and looking for decorations? We have a variety of bunting at just £2 a pack! Or you can make your own with some really sturdy material from just 30p a metre. Ideal to re-use as it’s not paper that rip after on use!

The Walled Garden

The team at The Walled Garden, our social enterprise in Chorley, welcomed South Ribble Borough Council yesterday for a photo call for the Silent Solider, sponsored by the South Ribble BC, which will be displayed proudly in The Walled Garden. People can visit the Silent Solider in the peaceful Walled Garden and reflect on the sacrifices made by the soldiers of the First World War as part of the Centenary Commemorations.

The walled Garden have a good crop of runner beans that they harvest to order- you can’t get any fresher than that!

The Heaton Street team are always looking to expand their services and as the year passes by, they are preparing to book in general landscaping jobs such as fencing and flagging. They welcome enquiries from enthusiastic people to join their expanding team to help with their growing workload.
