Social Enterprise Blog 09/10/19

The Brothers of Charity Services have various Social Enterprises for adults with learning disabilities; services are designed to support people to develop skills with confidence in a supportive working environment whilst offering services in the local community.

The social enterprises carryout lots of great, fun activities for the people we support and the local communities to get involved with. Here you will be able to find out what each of the enterprises have been up to.

Crafty Uniforms

As part of The Brothers of Charity Services, the role at Crafty Uniforms is to support adults to be involved in a bust retail environment. The team also encourage the people we support to participate in arts and craft sessions!

Last week David created this amazing piece of modern art work using his own theme and a variety of felt tip pens. Doesn’t it look amazing? David should be very proud of his wonderful creation!

The Crafty Uniforms team have found the amazing organisation, The Chorley Hedgehog Rescue Centre, who take and reuse, damaged and unsaleable uniforms. The team have been working hard turning uniforms into rags and soft bedding for the poorly little hedgehogs.

The Walled Garden

With the help from our friends at Heaton Street, the team at The Walled Garden have been constructing a new raised bed, which they hope will give people with mobility problems more interaction throughout the activities in the garden! It is great for the teams across our social enterprises to be able to work together on projects, gaining new skills as well as meeting and making new friends along the way!

Come along to The Walled Garden and see how the bed is coming along; they are open Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm and Saturday to Sunday 10am to 4:30pm.
