The Brothers of Charity Services in Lancashire have various Social Enterprises for adults with learning disabilities; these services are designed to support people to develop skills with confidence in a supportive working environment whilst offering services into the local community.
The Social Enterprises carryout lots of great, fun activities for the people we support and the local communities to get involved with. Here you will be able to find out what each of the Social Enterprises have been up to this week.
Crafty Uniforms
The team at Crafty Uniforms had a great time at their free craft session at Café Connect to celebrate Valentine’s Day! They helped groups of children make some beautiful Valentine’s Day cards, with a variety of great designs. Thank you to everyone who payed them a visit and joined in! We hope you all enjoyed yourselves and come along to visit again very soon!
The Walled Garden
The team at The Walled Garden have been making repairs on their wheelbarrows in preparation for the busy spring ahead! The team have been taking advantage of the change in weather and have been lifting and dividing the rhubarb at The Walled Garden, filling in any spaces where plants have died.
If you are visiting The Walled Garden throughout February, you will notice lots of bulbs beginning to sprout up; this means spring is just around the corner! We are looking forward to seeing the bright spring colours, bringing our garden to life.
South Ribble Council are making improvements to the drainage system within the garden, but this should not affect any visits you have planned.
The Pets Corner
Earlier this week, a lovely gentleman kindly donated some bearded silky bantam eggs that we are incubating ready for them to hatch. Here is a picture of them on their first day set up in their incubator. They take approximately 21 days to hatch and we are looking forward to having lots of baby Bantams.
We can’t wait to see the chicks running around in their new home!
Do you have a love for animals and have some spare time to donate? Pets Corner have volunteer opportunities available! Find out more here.

Valentines Radio Show
Music BOCS hosted their Valentine’s Day Radio Show playing a variety of love songs and dedications they received from all the social enterprise teams. It was a great show!
Everybody involved thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the show, giving them a chance to show their creative side whilst doing something they love. We can’t wait to hear next year’s show already!

Sign of the Week
We are always talking about the weather, but have you ever wondered how to sign it? The team at SelectionBOCS have that covered, watch their Rain video here!
Roccoco
It was a very busy morning at Roccoco for the Veteran’s Café on 17th February. They had a special visit from the Mayor and Mayoress, sponsors from BAE Systems and other VIPs, who were all talking to ITV News about the runaway success of this incredible project that has helped soldiers battling loneliness and isolation in our community. The project is a great achievement and seems to be loved by the public; we look forward to seeing it expand further in the future.
