The Brothers of Charity Services have various Social Enterprises for adults with learning disabilities; services are designed to support people to develop skills with confidence in a supportive working environment whilst offering services in the local community.

The social enterprises carryout lots of great, fun activities for the people we support and the local communities to get involved with. Here you will be able to find out what each of the social enterprises have been up to this week

Investors in People Gold

Our joint Gold IiP Accreditation marks the achievement of a significant milestone in the journey of the Brothers of Charity Services in England over the last ten years. This is reflecting the commitment to a united and non-discriminatory approach to the development, wellbeing and support of all staff colleagues at all levels cross the Brothers of Charity Services in Lancashire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester.

Christmas Fairs

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! To celebrate the most wonderful time of the year, we have many Christmas events taking place across the Brothers of Charity Services.

Join us at our Merseyside Christmas Fair at Thingwall Hall on Saturday 1st December, from 10:30am to 3pm. The event is free to attend!

Stalls and activities on the day will include:

  • Santa’s Grotto
  • Christmas Stalls
  • Raffle
  • Cake Stall
  • Tombola
  • Festive Refreshments

Join us on Sunday 2nd December at The Walled Garden located in Worden Park, Leyland, for a festive event for the family to enjoy!

Activities and stalls during the day include:

  • Santa’s Grotto (£3.50pp, includes a small gift- book required*)
  • Food and craft stalls
  • Workshops
  • Birds of Prey
  • Face Painting
  • Real Reindeer

Drums for Fun

The Creative Space team visited out Merseyside Services and held a ‘Drums for Fun’ workshop for the people we support. Everyone had a great time making music on a variety of different instruments and learning about the origins of the drums.

Heaton Street

The team at Heaton Street have been kindly volunteering at Longton Brickcroft Nature Reserve. They’ve been busy renovating a path as well as cutting back and tidying up shrubs. They are doing a great job, well done to you all!

Heaton Street team have a variety of machinery and tools in their van that enable them to do their gardening jobs to a high standard! As well as the lawnmowers, they have a hedge trimmer, leaf blower, strimmer and a range of other tools.

Crafty Uniforms

Spotlight of the Week at Crafty Uniforms- Christmas craft items

Our retail enterprise have a variety of christmas craft materials to help you make something extra special for family and friends! They have have stamps for card making and for making wrapping paper, gift tags, glittery items for making beautiful Christmas cards and so much more! Please pop in and ask one of their friendly team members to help you find what you’re looking for.

Crafty Uniforms will soon be open on Saturdays!

As of 5th January 2019, Crafty Uniforms will be open every Saturday from 11am to 4pm, making it easier for their lovely customers who struggle to visit us during the week!

Handmade Christmas Cards

The team at Crafty Uniforms have been busy making Christmas cards and this is just a small selection! All the materials for card making are available in their shop on Pall Mall, along with lots of other pre-loved craft making resources and school uniforms.

Feel free to pop in and browse to your hearts content, they’re open Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm!

The Walled Garden

The Walled Garden’s are now on their winter opening hours! They are open:

  • Monday to Friday- 9:30am to 3:30pm
  • Saturday and Sunday- 11am to 3pm

Hands on Gardening

Our team at Hands on Gardening have been volunteering at Longton Brickcroft Nature Reserve. They’ve been repairing and renovating a path as well as cutting back and tidying up shrubs. The team is doing a fantastic job, well done to you all!

Christmas Carol Concerts

Join our Merseyside Services for their Christmas Carol Concert on Wednesday 5th December 2018, in the Chapel at Thingwall Hall. Children from St. Margaret Mary’s Junior School will be joining us to sing a selection of Christmas Carols. Read more here.

The Brothers of Charity Services in Lancashire invites you to their Christmas Carol Concert at St Joseph’s Church, Harpers Lane, Chorley, on Monday 10th December. Service will start at 6:30pm and will be free for everyone to attend! Read more here.
