Volunteers Walk for National Volunteers Week 2018

Volunteers from the Brothers of Charity Services took part in a Volunteers Walk on the 5th of June 2018. They were joined by volunteers from the Wildlife Trust in Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside, St Catherine’s Hospice, Cruse Bereavement Care and Cuerden Valley Park.

The group met at the Visitors Centre in Cuerden Valley Park at 10:30am and set off for a scenic 6 mile walk to the Chapel at Lisieux Hall. During the walk everyone stopped to enjoy a picnic in the sunshine as well as a well needed rest.

Once the group reached Lisieux Hall, they were given refreshments and a really interesting presentation on Voice for All and the history of Brothers of Charity Services by Becky, the Chair of VfA, and Daniel, the Regional Advocacy and Community Engagement Coordinator. After the talk, everyone walked up to the Mound on the edge of Buckshaw Village to have their annual group taken!

The Volunteers Walk, which is held to celebrate National Volunteers Week, is always enjoyed by everyone who takes part. Thank you to Bob Clare for arranging the event each year and thank you to Michael Swarbrick, a leader of Chorley’s Healthwalk team, who led the walk.
