Josh’s 6 Months Volunteering at Pets Corner for Duke of Edinburgh Award

For his Duke of Edinburgh Award, Josh joined the Brothers of Charity Services in Lancashire as a volunteer at Pets Corner for 6 months to complete the “Volunteering” Section of the youth awards programme.

Josh made a very positive impression on all of our team at Pets Corner. During his time with us, he was very observant and proactive; helping staff with numerous jobs at our social enterprise. This included repairing hutches, making a shelter for the chickens as well as making a new dog water station sign for visitors to use. Josh also learnt a lot about animal behaviour and what food and care they need, interacted with the public and helped out in the refreshment kiosk.

About his time volunteering at Pets Corner, Josh said, “I have really enjoyed interacting with the animals, learning what food they eat, their behaviour and making new friends along the way with other volunteers and teaching the public about the animals”.

We wish him all the best with the rest of the Award and hope he continues on to his Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.
