Breast Cancer Awareness Month – October 2016

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an international health campaign that is held every year during the month of October, which is organised by major Breast Cancer charities. This annual campaign is run to increase the awareness and knowledge of the disease and to also raise funds for research, prevention, treatments and cure. Funds can be raised through a number of fund raising events, with the biggest in the UK being The Big Pink.

Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in women in the UK. Every year nearly 60,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK, that’s the equivalent of one person every 10 minutes. Statistics show that 1 in 8 women in the UK develop Breast Cancer and up to 12,000 people sadly lose their battle with the disease. (Source: Breast Cancer Care)
