Colin O’Brien, our Community Services Coordinator for the Brothers of Charity Services in Merseyside, ran the Liverpool Rock ’n’ Roll half Marathon on 20th May in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Congratulations to Colin for completing the half marathon in 2 hours and 18 minutes. The warm weather made the run hard going and it was a challenge for everyone who took part but Colin made it to the end in a fantastic time!

Colin took part in the run to raise money for Cancer Research as a lot of people have been touched by the disease over the years, and we recently had a service user, Tricia, who suffered greatly from it. She was receiving treatment and had a number of operations over the last couple of years. She eventually died of a brain tumour on the 22nd April 2018. Tricia will be sadly missed by her marvellous family, staff, friends and probably most people who had the pleasure of meeting her.

The Resource Centre at Thingwall Hall, which Tricia attended, set up a Sweepstake to guess Colin’s finishing time, with all the money raised going to Cancer Research. The person with the winning time will receive a weekend Bed and Breakfast in Blackpool!

Colin has also set up a Just Giving page for people to sponsor him for his fantastic fundraising run. If you would like to donate some money and help him reach his target of £150, please follow this link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/colin-o-brien7.

All money raised will go to Cancer Research UK. If you would like to find out more about the charity and what they do, click here.
