April Monthly Promotion – Health and Wellbeing Day

On 30th April 2014 another Health and Wellbeing event aimed at all staff was held in Thingwall Hall. The people that we support were also invited.

Stalls at the event included Roy Castle community stop smoking service “Fagends”, Liverpool Foood Team, MediCash, NHS Liverpool promoting cancer awareness, Beauty Treatments, Brothers of Charity Service IT Support, and Learning and Development.

We are pleased to confirm that following the event, a group of people signed up to FagEnds and they are running a smoking cessation group from Thingwall Hall as they did last year. If you want to join your colleagues to try and stop smoking, please contact the HR Team for more information 0151 228 4439 or humanresources@brothersofcharity.org.uk www.roycastle.org www.stopsmoking.org.uk

The event received a lot of positive feedback and everybody who attended found the information received on the day useful.

Look out for upcoming Health and Wellbeing events, including an event at Imageink in November combined with Christmas fair.

Thank you to all those who took part in this event. Please keep your comments and suggestions coming.

May Monthly Promotion – Dementia Awareness

Dementia Awareness week is the 20th – 26th May, we would like to hear how you and your team support this.

A group of staff from across the service are currently completing the Advanced Diploma in Dementia that was launched last year. This is a bespoke City & Guilds Accredited Award developed with Knowsley Skills Partnership.

Developing our workforce this way will help ensure that we increase our level of expertise within the service across all areas to make sure that the people we support with dementia will have their needs highlighted at the earliest stage possible. It will also enable us to demonstrate and deliver the best and most appropriate support possible with consistency.
