December Promotion

Santa Stroll

A group of 60 people from the Brothers of Charity Services in Merseyside took part in the Santa Stroll. The route consisted of two walks which gave everyone the choice of completing a short course around the grounds of Thingwall Hall or a longer 1km course around the local neighbourhood for anyone that wanted to go that extra bit further.

Everyone had fun, getting into the Christmas spirit by singing their favourite Christmas songs. Everybody was awarded a medal at the end of the Santa Stroll to celebrate their achievement! After the Santa Stroll, everyone went to the Christmas Fayre and looked around (and bought plenty from) the Christmas craft and food stalls. There was also a tombola, raffle, silent auction and Santa’s Grotto!

Thank you to everyone who got involved in the Santa Stroll and Christmas Fayre, both those who took part and the volunteers that helped to run the event. Together we raised over£700 which will go to the Brothers of Charity overseas charitable projects in Shri Lanka. We will keep you updated about similar events in 2015.

Christmas Jumper Day for Save the Children

Brothers of Charity Services in Merseyside took part in this year’s Christmas Jumper day on Friday 12th December.

Overall the staff raised £23 for Save the Children, which will be doubled by the UK government, matching pound for pound everything donated.

January Promotion

In January 2015, we will be supporting StepChange Debt Charity Debt Awareness Week and Dry January.

Debt Awareness Week

In 2015 StepChange Debt Charity will be running the campaign between January 26th and February 2nd, click here for more information. There will be information leaflets and posters in Thingwall Hall, in Imageink at the Hetherlow Centre and in the Brothers of Charity Services – Greater Manchester’s office at Europa Business Park.

Dry January

Dry January is a campaign by Alcohol Concern to encourage people to try going dry for a month with us. It’s mainly about encouraging behaviour change but they’re a tiny charity so they love to see people using it to fundraise for them too. Theye’ve been doing some academic research and early reports show that taking part in our campaign has a positive impact on a person’s levels and patterns of alcohol consumption beyond January.
