March Promotion

No Smoking Day

As part of Health BOCS, the Brothers of Charity Service’s health and wellbeing programme, throughout March, Promoted No Smoking Day.

No Smoking Day has been running since Ash Wednesday in 1983, when it was called Quit for the Day. The campaign is re-designed every year to help push smokers to quit.

The mission of the campaign is to appeal to smokers of all types-whatever their age, sex or social class. They publicise and explain the help that smokers can get when they want to stop, and capture the attention of the media with lots of supportive TV, newspaper and radio coverage.

The No Smoking Day team working with national helplines, local stop smoking services, drop-in centres, pharmacists GPs and other services that offer help and advice to smokers who want to give up. The day is rigorously evaluated every year, ensuring the campaign stays relevant and up-to-date.

Apprentice Week

During this week employers and apprentices from across England came together to celebrate the success of apprenticeships whilst encouraging even more people to choose apprenticeships as a pathway to a great career.

This campaign is designed to showcase how apprenticeships work for individuals, businesses, communities and the wider economy.

This year, the theme set by the government is “Apprenticeship Work”. It plans to demonstrate how apprenticeships work “for individuals, employers, the community and the wider economy.”

April Promotion

This Month we are promoting:

World Autism Awareness Day

As part of Health BOCS, the Brothers of Charity Services’ health and wellbeing programme, throughout April, we will be promoting World Autism Awareness Day.

World Autism Awareness Day aims to put a spotlight on the hurdles that people with autism- and others living with autism- face every day. This campaign is vital in improving autistic people’s lives and helping them become more integrated in society.

The organisation has published a report which suggests autistic people (of which there are around 700,000 in the UK) are still marginalised and isolated, despite people generally stating that they know what autism is.
