Voice For All Update June 2017

News and Update May/June 2017

Some of Voice for All’s most recent work and current projects include;

  • Visiting Thingwall Hall and the ‘Pleased to meet you’ advocacy group to discuss;
    – the ‘Love, Sex and Relationships’ easy read policy and guidelines and offering to help them with a ‘Launch Party’
    – Planning of the new ‘Welcome Day’
  • Organising, promoting and planning the Lancashire Learning Disability Awareness Week programme of events with other LD providers, partners and local Advocacy Groups
  • Voice for All advocacy group being featured in the Lancashire Post with a full page article- Hosting the Annual Volunteers Walk and giving a presentation to volunteers from BOCS, St Catherine’s
  • Hospice, Sue Ryder, MIND, Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside Wildlife Trust, Cuerden Valley Park, and Lancashire Dotcom Walkers.
  • Being filmed and making videos with colleagues from across Lancashire and the North West for the National Supported Loving Campaign
  • Taking part in the Brothers of Charity Recruitment events
  • Promoting the General Election and people’s right to vote and encouraging all our members to register and vote
  • Reviewing easy read information for the Greater Preston and Chorley and South Ribble CCG’s
  • Giving a presentation at the Lancashire Learning Disability Partnership Board
    Helping to plan and organise the 2017 BOCS ‘Heritage Day’
  • Working hard to put together and plan a new ‘Welcome Day’ staff induction training programme for new members of staff

Some of the events we have organised and been involved in recently include;

  • Ongoing monthly film nights
    – Annie (May)
    – Finding Nemo (June)
    – Toy Story (July)
  • Attending and having a stall at the Lancashire Learning Disability Awareness Event at Preston Flag Market
    (here we are with the Mayor and Mayoress of Preston)
  • Attending the Annual ‘Our Health Day’ at Chorley Hospital
  • Running the ‘Catch a Frog’ stall for the BOCS Annual Heritage day
  • Running the ‘Hook a Duck’ stall for the BOCS Annual Heritage day
  • Delivering our very first ‘Welcome Day’ staff induction training programme for new members of staff in Lancashire
  • We continue to meet and work with all our partners across Lancashire and the North West. We are presently meeting and working with;
    Chorley and South Ribble and Greater Preston CCG’s (Clinical Commissioning Groups) and the CCG Patient Advisory Group
  • Lancashire Friends and Relationships Group and associated partners

  • North West ‘Being Safe’ Group
  • North West ‘Living Well’ Group

  • SAIL (Self-Advocacy in Lancashire) and other Lancashire advocacy groups and providers
