The Brothers of Charity Services’ Great Manchester team held a Dignity Awareness Drop in Session at their office in Bury to mark Dignity Action Day on the 1st February.
The event was organised by the team’s Student Social Worker, Claire, and welcomed clients and staff who came along and discussed what dignity means to both themselves individually and to the Brothers of Charity Services, over tea, biscuits and cakes.
Amy, one of the clients, gave a great explanation of what dignity means to her, she said it’s being treated with respect and being kind.
A Digni-Tree was then planted in a pot and everyone wrote a message about what dignity means to them personally to hang on the tree. The tree will be kept in the Greater Manchester office as a reminder of the day and as a symbol of treating people fairly, with respect and offering person centred support.
