Welcome to the Health BOCS update, the monthly update on Health and Wellbeing activities at the Brothers of Charity Services in England.

Last month we promoted:

National No Smoking Day

On Wednesday 8th March, Brothers of Charity Services took part in National No Smoking Day and encouraged staff who do smoke to take part in the day.

The mission of National No Smoking Day is to appeal to all smokers; whatever their age, sex or social class. They want to publicise and explain the help that smokers can receive when they want to stop.

National Apprentice Week

Brothers of Charity Services have a lot of apprentices working in both Support Work and Business Admin. To celebrate this, we promote National Apprenticeship Week throughout the services.

Our apprentices were given the opportunity to work in a different area of the services; giving them a wider perspective on what the Brothers of Charity Services do.

Red Nose Day

Brothers of Charity Services held a Health and Wellbeing Day on 24th March at Thingwall Hall and on 31st March at Lisieux Hall. We invited everyone from our services to come along and to find out more about how to look after their health and wellbeing. Click here to read more about our Health and Wellbeing Days.

Along-side our Health and Wellbeing Day we held a 5-a-Side Football Tournament at both Thingwall Hall and at Lisieux Hall. The winning teams, Blue BOCS from our Merseyside Services and Red BOCS from our Lancashire Services, will be playing in the Tournament Final for the Heritage Shield. This will be held at the Brothers of Charity Services Heritage Day on the 30th June, hosted by BOCS Lancashire at Lisieux Hall.

This month we are promoting:

World Autism Awareness Week – 27th March to 2nd April 2017.

Throughout April we will be raising awareness of autism by sign-posting readers to relevant sites, including information about local initiatives, autism friendly cinema screenings and shopping days.
