The Brothers of Charity Services in England held Health and Wellbeing days in Merseyside at the Thingwall Hall site and in Lancashire Services at the Lisieux Hall site during March.

A variety of health and wellbeing related activities and stalls, representatives of local organisations and social enterprises that the Brothers of Charity Services support all attended both events. Stalls from Macmillan Cancer Support, Liverpool John Moores University Sports and Development centre, NHS Sexual Health, Medicash, 10 Hair and Beauty Therapy students from Knowsley College and Active Nation along with many more donated their time to be at the two events and provided everybody with useful information about their own health and wellbeing.

The Red Nose Day 5-A-Side Football Tournament was held as a part of both events. Both matches were exciting and intense, ending with a penalty shootout going into sudden death!

The tournament of Lancashire consisted of 4 teams, Hands on Gardening North End, Heaton Street FC, Cop Lane FC and Red BOCS, with Red BOCS and Heaton Street FC making it to the final, the winner was Red BOCS through penalties.

In Merseyside, last year’s Heritage Shield Winners, Thingwall Warriors played Blue BOCS, again after an exciting match Blue BOCS won through penalties.

Both Blue BOCS and Red BOCS are going to be playing in the Tournament Final for the Heritage Shield which will be held at the Brothers of Charity Services Heritage Day on the 30th June, hosted by BOCS Lancashire at the Lisieux Hall Site.

Liverpool John Moores University and Active Nation provided Inclusive Sports and Fitness sessions and encouraged staff and the people we support to get involved. Liverpool John Moores University provided a fun Inclusive Sports session by playing Nerf Ball with everyone who wanted to get involved. Active Nation gave an Inclusive Fitness session, demonstrating a variety of simple but effective exercises to benefit health and fitness. Everyone who joined in worked really hard and had lots of fun!

The events received great feedback from everyone who attended and we would like to say a huge thank you to all the local organisations and social enterprises who attended, Liverpool John Moores University and Active Nation for providing the fun Inclusive Sport and Fitness sessions and to Sophie Cummings for organising the two amazing days!
