The Brothers of Charity Services have various social enterprises for adult with learning disabilities; services are designed to support people to develop skills with confidence in a supportive working environment whilst offering services in the local community.
The social enterprises carryout lots of great fun, fun activities for the people we support and the local communities to get involved with. Here you will be able to find out what each of the social enterprises have been up to this week.
Pets Corner
Thank you to Roosters Retreat, a rescue for cockerels were able to take Pets Corner in Astley Park, Chorley’s 3 cockerels that they were having some trouble with and gave them this handsome chap in return. He has been a massive hit with both our service users and visitors and has settled in well with the hens.
Half term is just around the corner and our team at Pets Corner in Astley Park, Chorley have planned a variety of spook-tacular Halloween activities from the 22nd – 31st October for everybody to enjoy! Contact the team for more details.
Patch and her little of 6 are settling well into their new pen here at Pets’ Corner! The babies were 4 weeks old yesterday and growing fast. Pop in and see them this week!

The Walled Garden
The colour of the chard at The Walled Garden looks stunning in the sunshine. Although a vegetable, it wouldn’t look out of place in any part of our garden with such beautiful autumnal shades! Pop in and say hello they’re open at 11am to 5pm over the weekend!
The Walled Garden shop is looking very autumnal lately with a variety of apples grown in the garden and Halloween goodies! They’re open weekdays between 10am – 3:30pm, call in and have a look!
Pumpkin Carving is back at The Walled Garden from 24th to 31st October 2018! We will also have Make your own Trick-or-Treat Bags and a Halloween Hunt from 22nd to 31st October.

Roccoco
Did you know it was National Cake Week? It was the perfect excuse to pop into Roccoco and eat their delicious homemade cake! They made a selection of yummy cakes to choose from; carrot cake, hummingbird cake, red velvet cakes and coffee and walnut cake. They all went down a treat!
Roccoco also celebrated National Baking Week. There’s nothing we love more than cake here at Roccoco and our talented team have a great time making a variety of them each week to sell in store. They had a wide selection of homemade tasty treats; they also had gluten free and low sugar/low fat cakes available. Free samples were also on offer throughout the week! Roccoco’s special for this week is a tasty gluten free banana, date and rum loaf! It’s also made without the addition of sugar. Enjoy it with a cup of tea or any standard size coffee for just £3.50.
Last week our talented team were very busy baking 200 delicious cakes for South Ribble Borough Council event! We hope everyone enjoyed them.

Crafty Uniforms
The team at Crafty Uniforms visited Genesis Care NW in Chorley last Friday and held a craft session for people with dementia. The team at Crafty Uniforms have buy one get one free on all of their fabric this week! One of our fabulous team member’s upcycled an old corkboard with some fabrics; what a great and easy way to give a household item a new lease of life!
Starting to feel a chill in the air? Wrap up warm with winter clothing from Crafty Uniforms. They have a variety of children’s coats and fleeces from just £2. Pop in weekdays from 9-4pm to see what they have!
A huge thank you to High Five for their extremely kind donation; High Five is an amazing charity based in Chorley run entirely by volunteer parents. They provide activities for disabled children and their families.
Thank you to Jada Embroidery and Print for their very generous donation of excess stock of Holy Cross and Albany school jumpers and trousers. We are sure to have customers rattling our doors to grab the bargains of the century! These new items will be priced lovely and low making them very affordable. We have already prices much of the stock and it is already lining our shelves. If you know someone who is looking for new school uniforms please feel free to share far and wide.
Our amazing team have been working very hard to rearrange the stock in the shop! Last week they started to fill up our rotating display stand with craft and card making items. Pop in to our shop and see how we the team have done; our team would love to know what you think of the new layout!

Our fabulous team went to Parent ‘n’ Tots group at Buttermere Community Centre to deliver a craft activity session. Our team had prepared an autumn themed hand print tree that the children (and mums/dads) helped cover with orange, yellow, red and brown tissue paper to look like autumn leaves. They finished it off with bats and a crescent moon to transform it into a spook-tacular Halloween picture. One lady said she liked the picture she helped her son to make so much that she’s going to frame it!

Hands on Gardening

Heaton Street
The team have been really busy clearing leaves from our customer’s gardens. It’s a lovely time of the year to be working outside. We’ve even had our first real frost of autumn this week. Why not call us to get your garden ready for the cold weather ahead.
Autumn is such a beautiful time of the year! There’s so much colour everywhere; from vivid autumnal leaves like on this wonderful Japanese maple to roses still in flower in some of our clients’ gardens. Who would believe it’s only a few days away from November!
