Roccoco, our social enterprise in Leyland, hosted a special Veterans’ Café on 5th June 2019, were they welcomed a royal visitor, HRH The Duke of Kent, along with the many veterans who attend the café.

The Duke received a tour of Roccoco and enjoyed meeting our team and the veterans who have benefitted from the work of the café. The event was filled with story sharing and support between veterans, music from a fantastic Vera Lynn tribute act and delicious food provided by Roccoco.

The Veterans’ Café is a ‘drop in’ style event held at Roccoco, our food-based social enterprise in Leyland, twice a month. It was established in 2017 after Phil Burton, the founder of the Veterans’ Café, successfully approached South Ribble Borough Council for funding from the Borough’s Armed Forces Covenant. The café welcomes around 70 veterans to each session who are able to meet, share stories and seek support. With a huge amount of support from the Brothers of Charity Services, South Ribble Borough Council and BAE Systems, the cafe is making a difference to veterans’ lives in the local area as well as further afield.

The Veterans’ Café meet on the first and third Saturdays of the month from 10am to 1pm at Roccoco Coffee Lounge.
