The Brothers of Charity Heritage Cup kicked off Heritage Week during the morning of Monday 2nd June 2014. Three five-a-side teams took part in the competition, refereed by Mathew Goodwin. The teams, the IT Dream Boys, the Essex Boys and the Oldies played two matches each as part of the cup, followed by the final.

The final was played between the IT Dream Boys and the Essex Boys which went into extra time and penalties, after various substitutions and swaps, a mixture of teams won, fitting in nicely with the Heritage Week’s peace and reconciliation theme! Despite the mixed weather, from glorious sunshine to rain, everyone involved had a great time.

The winning team was:
Joe Murphy
Tom Waring
Stephen Cooper
Jack McAdam
Scott Dixon
Paul McKim

In the afternoon, everyone was invited to watch a film about the Christmas Truce, part of the “Days that Shook the World” series. This was an interactive session with a group discussion at the end.
