On Saturday 15th November, this year’s “Crafts at Christmas Sale” took place at Creative Arts, Lisieux Hall. Artists had been preparing for the event since August, researching ideas for their artwork and visiting local craft fairs for display ideas.
Throughout the building artists had transformed their work stations to showcase an impressive selection of artwork. Their sensory room had been festooned with a forest of Christmas trees, amongst which they had displayed their Christmas themed work. These included Christmas cones and ornaments, ceramic Christmas trees, snowmen, tree decorations and santas. Handmade Christmas cards were quickly snapped up by customers looking for something unique and professional.
This year, a fabulous selection of cakes and biscuits were donated by our local supermarkets; Tesco, Morrison’s and Booths complemented by freshly brewed coffee. The refreshment cafe was run by Ellie, Catherine, Sophie and Andrew who served their customers wearing vintage attire. This theme was echoed by Kayleigh and Kym who manned the ever busy sales desk.
Upstairs, the mood was slightly more relaxed where customers where able to spend time exploring a stunning variety of drawings, paintings and mixed media work. This year, the gallery area featured the work of John Robinson. This is the first time that John has held an exhibition of his work however he needed no prompting when it came to guiding customers around his individual pieces and explaining their creative journeys. Visitors were delighted by his tour commenting ‘he’s a natural’. There was also an opportunity to see a small selection of the photography work by Holly Raper.
Our raffle this year was run by Ann Riding and kindly supported by local garden centre Avant Gardens. We would also like to thank everyone who lent us their Christmas tree for display purposes.
If you missed out on our events this year there are still plenty of spectacular creative pieces on sale at Creative Arts. You are always welcome to come and have a look round our displays so please give us a call before you visit to ensure that we are open to the public.
