As part of Health BOCS, the Brothers of Charity Services’ health and well-being programme, throughout February, we will be promoting Dignity in Care. To do this, we will signpost staff and the people we support to information about Dignity in Care.
February starts off with Dignity Action Day, an annual event that is run by Dignity in Care and takes place on the 1st February each year. It aims to give everyone the opportunity to contribute to upholding people’s rights to dignity and provide a memorable day for everybody.
It also aims to ensure people who use care services are treated as individuals and are given choice, control and a sense of purpose in their daily lives.
The purpose of Dignity Action Day is to:
- -Raise awareness of the importance of Dignity in Care
- -Provide someone with an extra special day
- -Demonstrate that everybody in the community has a role to play in upholding Dignity Care
- -Remind the public that all staff have a right to be treated with dignity and respect too
- -Provide a great community networking opportunity
On Dignity Action day, Dignity in Care ask health and social care workers to promote dignity in their place of work; and also ask members of the public to promote dignity for people in their communities.
To raise awareness of Dignity Action Day, the Brothers of Charity Services in England will be holding a dress down day and all money raised will be donated to Dignity in Care.
