Our Heritage Day this year was all about spreading happiness, kindness and friendship, celebrating the work of the Brothers of Charity and their founder, Peter Joseph Triest.
The event certainly did spread happiness and friendship, as members of our Lancashire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester communities were able to visit old friends and form new friendships.
The day kicked off with the Heritage Cup final football match between the Woodview Warriors from the Merseyside Services and visitors, the Fillies from the Lancashire Services. The match was close, finishing 7-6 to the Woodview Warriors who were presented a shield from CEO Darron Grundy.
Stalls, games, an ice cream van and a barbecue were running throughout the day, Lee McClure, Locality Manager from the Liverpool Service Area even volunteered to be the target for wet sponges.
Balloons were released to spread friendship messages to the local community and a treasure hunt took place with clues leading to items from the Brothers of Charity’s heritage.
The afternoon saw performances from St Margaret Mary’s school, ImageInk and the Aspire Drama Group who formed a sign choir, and Voice for All who invited everyone to take part in the BOCS England Choir to sing You’ve Got a Friend in Me.
We hope that everyone had lots of fun at our Heritage Day, thank you for coming! Also thank you to everyone who organised the event, ran stalls and to St Margaret Mary’s School, Voice for All and Imageink for their wonderful performances!
We’re looking forward to next year’s event which will be held at our Lisieux Hall Site in Lancashire.
