Our Lancashire Services held yet another successful Health and Wellbeing Day on Friday 27th September 2019 at Lisieux Hall. Our staff and the people we support were invited to find out about how important Health and Wellbeing is from a variety of organisations that joined us on the day.
Some of our staff and clients had their blood pressure taken by Lancashire Teaching Hospital. They were informing everyone on how important it is to look after their bodies and giving out some great tips on keeping healthy. Find out more here.
Medicash came in to give our staff information on the healthcare plan that they receive as part of their staff benefits. This includes Dental & Optical care, Healthcare treatments and discounted Gym Membership. Find out more here.
As it was National Fitness week, students from Preston College brought along a choice of activities for everyone to get involved with! Our staff and clients really enjoyed the ten pin bowling and we even had a few strikes on the day. Click here to find out more about National Fitness Week.
Clare from our Lancashire Services also had a stall to raise awareness and money for Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. Clare brought along with her a fantastic range of information as well as her friendly guide dog, Rascal. Overall, Clare raised an amazing £29.47 for the charity, well done!
Dobbies Southport kindly donated a full range of seeds and blubs which were featured on a gardening themed stall along with tips and advice. Gardening can be a great way to improve mental health as it can help to reduce stress as well as being therapeutic. The Walled Garden, our social enterprise in Leyland, is a beautiful hidden treasure in Worden Park and a great place to visit for a peaceful walk with plenty to see. The gardens are free to visit and are open Monday to Friday, 10am to 3:30pm, and weekends, 10am to 4:30pm. Visit their Facebook page here.
For attendees who were looking for a pamper and some relaxation, Liz Keeble from Be Holistic gave free reflexology hand treatments, aromatherapy massages, deep tissue massages, Indian head massages and Reiki. Liz is a fully insured Holistic Therapist based in Crosby and offers therapy to treat a great deal of disorders such as stress, anxiety, muscular aches and pains and digestive complaints. As part of our HealthBOCS initiative, the Brothers of Charity Services are offering staff and the people we support a variety of alternative therapy treatments on a complementary basis. Liz will be coming in over the next couple of months to offer treatments to clients and service users. Contact HR to be booked on. Find out more here.
During the event, we also had a prize draw for our Health and Wellbeing Survey. The winners were picked and they were presented with their £50 shopping vouchers! We would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to everyone who took part in the survey as it helps the Brothers of Charity Services can help support your Health and Wellbeing.
As well as the Health and Wellbeing Day, throughout the event we were also raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support with a Coffee Morning. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated cakes and took part as we managed to raise a fantastic £124.05!
