During these worrying times it is important that we all stay at home as much as we can! Due to this, our Advocacy groups have been unable to hold any of their weekly face to face meetings, until further notice. However, this doesn’t mean that people still can’t stay in touch with each other and have fun, whilst continuing all the incredible work they do.
Daniel Hall, our Regional Advocacy and Community Engagement Manager, has worked extremely hard to find a new method of communication that suits everyone and allows our groups to still feel included and connected, whilst also sticking to the rules of social distancing.
Voice for All, our Lancashire Services’ advocacy group, always look forward to their weekly meetings at Lisieux Hall. However to keep everyone safe, the group were the first to try out the new communication method and have decided to hold a conference call everyone Monday.
The groups’ first call was a huge success! 11 members joined the call and they found it was a great, easy way for everyone to stay in touch and agreed they would all be happy to work this way in the future. The group also discussed the different ways to keep people engaged and the possibility of holding social events virtually!
After the great turn out of Voice for All’s conference call, our Merseyside Services’ advocacy group, Our Voice Our Choice, have now been inspired to hold their own weekly calls on Fridays, to remain in contact with the rest of the group and continue to have fun in the comfort of their own home.
