Selection BOCs offers the people we support the opportunity to express themselves through sound and music; especially at its Music BOCs Group (meeting on Tuesdays) while having a strong ‘community engagement’ focus.
Selection BOCs recently spent a day the Guild Hall in the heart of Preston. They travelled by bus from their base in Chorley to the venue. The group were led by the venue’s Chief Technician into the 2000+ seater Grand Hall initially, where they were shown how the hydraulic stage and wold-away (bleacher) seating works.
Some of the group remembered previously visiting the space to watch International Snooker events, live bands and comedians. Then, after taking a trip along the Dressing Room corridor and into some of the backstage areas the group visited the Charter Theatre, again looking on-stage at the technical equipment used there.
Everyone had a great day. It was good to see the areas of a theatre that are usually beyond the reach of the general public. A real insight into ‘the inner workings’ of such a prestigious venue.
