The Brothers of Charity Services in Lancashire have various Social Enterprises for adults with learning disabilities; these services are designed to support people to develop skills with confidence in a supportive working environment whilst offering services into the local community.
The Social Enterprises carryout lots of great, fun activities for the people we support and the local communities to get involved with. Here you will be able to find out what each of the Social Enterprises have been up to this week

Roccoco

Phil Burton, who set up the Veterans Café alongside Roccoco, received a tremendous award from Theresa May when he visited the House of Commons and 10 Downing Street. Phil was awarded with a Points of Light award for outstanding volunteering; what an amazing achievement! Congratulations Phil from all of the team at Roccoco.

Some of the team members at Crafty Uniforms met up for a meal in-between Christmas and New Year. Everyone had a great time catching up and celebrating the festive season!

Walled Garden

Between the wintry showers we’ve had recently, the team at The Walled Garden have been busy preparing seed orders for the spring!

Hands on Gardening

The teams at Hands on Gardening have been very busy this week designing and pricing up for some raised beds for a customer! The beds will help out customer to grow some delicious vegetables in the summer months. If you’re interested in adding some raised beds to your garden and want a little more information, give the team a call and they will be happy to help!

Have your fences been damaged by the high winds we’ve had? If so, why not give Hands on Gardening team a call and their friendly team will come and discuss your requirements with you free of charge!

January tip from the team: Cut back the old foliage from ornamental grasses before growth begins! You should clip them to within a few centimetres of the ground.

Heaton Street

The team at Heaton Street Gardening have helped 3 customers this week to tidy out their garden sheds, to get rid of their rubbish for them. They have also been able to supply and fit better security locks so that their shed is ready for the season ahead.

The team have also been busy with tree work over the past couple of weeks; removing trees that had become unsafe as a result of the high winds! This has given the team some great experience!

January tip from the team; Start to think about your hanging baskets for this year! Why not order your plants now from one of our other Social Enterprises, The Walled Garden in preparation for spring.
