The Brothers of Charity Services have various Social Enterprise’s for adults with learning disabilities; the services are designed to support people to develop skills with confidence in a supportive working environment whilst offering services in the local community.
The social enterprises carryout lots of great, fun activities for the people we support and local communities to get involved with. Due to current circumstances, unfortunately our social enterprises in Lancashire have had to close to the public until further notice. However, here is a recap of all their wonderful work throughout March.
Crafty Uniforms
At the beginning of March our Crafty Uniforms team were proudly presented with a certificate of appreciation from Lady Catherine Hoyle, for their contribution to Chorley in Bloom. (Photos from the ceremony can be found on Chorley in Bloom’s Facebook group- https://www.facebook.com/groups/chorleyinbloom/.
Our team at Crfaty created this wonderful Mother’s Day display for all those special mum’s out there!
Earlier throughout March our Crafty team made a thoughtful ‘Miss You’ card for the local convenience shop who have sadly had to close. They provided the team with milk over the years, so the team wanted to express their goodbyes by presenting them with their kind gesture.
With Easter fast approaching, the team have had a ‘cracking’ time lately making their very own Easter eggs using balloons and papier mache. They can’t wait to decorate and show them off in their Easter window display once they’re all dry and ready to go. We are sure the finished products are going to be amazing!

The Walled Garden
The sun finally made an appearance in March, which means our wonderful team at The Walled Garden made the most out of it and started their seasonal task of sowing seeds. Here is Adam sowing some tomato and chilli seeds.
With the hope of an early salad crop, the Walled Garden team were very busy building a raised bed in their Polly tunnel. We look forward to seeing the rewards of all of the team’s hard work over the next few months.
Earlier in March the Walled Garden team received a request from a customer for a table that can be used in their greenhouse. We are sure you will agree that Les and Ulrich have done an amazing job; we hope the lovely customers love it just as much as us! Here is Ulrich adding the finishing touches with a coat of wood stain.

Roccoco
With a great working partnership between Roccoco and South Ribble Borough Council, Roccoco’s monthly Syrian Bistro has been a huge hit with the locl community. Inviting Syrian families to join us once a month to share their delicious local delicacies has been a fantastic way of welcoming them to Leyland and for them to meet and mingle with their new South Ribble neighbours.
The March Syrian Bistro was a huge success with the event being a complete sell out. Everyone who attended said they thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend to friends and family. They also said they will love to return in the future.
