The Brothers of Charity Services and South Ribble Borough Council have joined in partnership to develop a unique Syrian refugee resettlement programme, aiming to resettle Syrian families in South Ribble and Chorley. As part of this programme, we have launched a Syrian Bistro for the local community which will be based at Roccoco, our food-based social enterprise in Leyland.
The Syrian Bistro will bring resettled families together to share their rich culture through food and entertainment while using the opportunity to experience working and socialising amongst the local communities.
On Friday 7th June, Roccoco hosted a press launch for the Syrian Bistro project.
Following an introduction to some of the relocated families living in the area, there was a selection of Syrian dishes in a buffet style available for everyone to enjoy. The press had the chance to meet and talk to the Syrian families with assistance from an interpreter, as well as the organisers; including Darlene, our Head of Day Opportunities and Community Engagement. There were several members of South Ribble Borough Council in attendance as well as elected counsellors from the area. The event was a huge success in raising awareness and generating support for the project.
Come and Join us at our Monthly Syrian Bistro Event!
The Syrian Bistro will take place once a month and tickets are £16 each with 30 places per session. The cost will include a delicious three course mezze banquet style meal with hot and cold beverages and entertainment, all prepared and provided by our Syrian families.
