Our Lancashire services held a fabulously festive Christmas Market on the 1st December at one of our fantastic social enterprises, The Walled Garden, which is located in Worden Park in Leyland.
There was so much going on during the day and all of our social enterprises had a great time getting involved. Along with running the event, The Walled Garden team were selling handmade wreaths and Christmas ornaments. Roccoco had a cake stall, selling a selection of delicious cakes and biscuits as well as jars of homemade spiced chutney made with ingredients from The Walled Garden.
Our team from Crafty Uniforms held a craft activity to make Christmas decorations and were selling a variety of beautiful homemade jewellery made by Tina. Our Gardening teams had a great time making Christmas cards and decorations during the run up to the event, and had a stall to sell them on the day.
The Creative Arts team were running a very popular face painting stall and were kept busy painting lots of Christmas and animal themed faces. They also made a wonderful Victorian set including furniture and a backdrop out of craft materials. Their creations were placed in The Walled Garden’s bothy by the gardening team to transform it in to Santa’s Grotto! Santa’s Grotto was a huge hit with everyone and all the children who came along to see Santa received a tasty chocolate selection box.
The stalls and entertainment didn’t stop with the social enterprises; there were also a variety of stalls from external vendors, including cheese and chutney from ‘Cheesed Off’, pizza made by The Flying Pizza Company, pet accessories from Barkers Dog Boutique and a selection of craft items from Leyland’s Craft and Chat as well as much more! We were also joined by Clare from our Lancashire Services with her guide dog, Rascal, who ran a Guide Dogs stall to raise awareness of the charity.
Along with the fabulous range of stalls, there were some furry and feathery friends that joined us for the day. The stars of the day that captivated everyone’s attention were the reindeer. Thank you to John Southworth Builders who made it possible to have these adorable animals at our event. Everybody loved seeing, stroking and feeding them and they made lots of our visitors very happy! We also had a variety of beautiful owls brought to the market by Hyndburn Hooters.
Thank you to the organisations, our customers and our staff who kindly donated chocolate, sweets and prizes for the raffle.
