Last week saw the Walled Garden team at Southport Flower Show as part of the Greennet group which is made up of of Brothers of Charity, HFT (formerly Stanley Grange), Piccadilly Support Services and Sow n’ Grow (part of Integrate Services).
A lot of planning and hard work was carried out throughout the year to come up with a design that represented who we are and what we are about; as well as growing lots of lovely plants for the display and to sell.
The theme this year was China and the team created a display using a variety of plants and art work to represent China using a design based on historical Chinese gardens looking at how ‘moon windows’ which are used a lot giving restricted views into the gardens. We used these to represent how people are often only viewed from one point rather than being seen as a whole person and an individual.
