Hands-on Gardening is an enterprise which supports people in a small group setting to tend to the gardens of elderly tenants / homeowners.
This enterprise began originally in partnership with ‘Anchor Staying Put’, which aimed at reducing the need for elderly people to relocate when no-longer able to manage their garden space and at reducing social isolation. Hands-on Gardening now provides services to over 60 households in the central Lancashire area, offering people the chance to take part in a range of gardening applications whilst offering elderly homeowners / tenants some much valued company.
People who access this service and aspire to employment can also further develop their skills within our commercial grounds maintenance and landscaping enterprise Heaton Street.
