Annual Health and Wellbeing Survey

Thanks to all those completed the survey – here is a link to the survey and action plan. Return and response rates have improved again this year – Your involvement and valuable feedback is essential to help us keep improving – Congratulations to Dave Wilkinson from the St Helens & Knowsley team who has won a £30 voucher in the prize draw just for taking part.

Watch out for ‘SuggestionBOCS’ – a way for you to share ideas for improvements all year round – more details coming soon.

July & August Promotion

Staff Benefits including Medicash & sun care advice have continued to be promoted in July and August although it looks like we may have seen the last of our summer weather!!

We would encourage staff to sign up with Busy Bees now as the Government is set to launch their new Tax-free Childcare scheme next year to provide working parents with savings on their childcare costs. However, many working parents will be better off using Childcare Vouchers. After Tax-free Childcare is introduced, our Childcare Voucher scheme will be closed to new entrants and only those already using Childcare Vouchers can continue to do so.

September Promotion

We want to hear how you and your team are going to support the Macmillan tea party in September and don’t forget to don your denim on 19th September in aid of Jeans for Genes day, a fun event we support every year.

What else?

Don’t forget the canteen has now launched their healthy eating options menu and we are looking to increase the sale of fresh fruit on site.

With effect from 30 June 2014 The Children and Families Bill extended the right to request flexible working, which currently applies to employees who have children under the age of 17 (18 if a child is disabled) or who are carers, to all employees with 26 weeks service. The statutory process for considering requests will be replaced with a duty to deal with the request in a reasonable and timely manner. The Service’s current flexible working policy already extends the right to request flexible working to all staff for a variety of reasons and we will follow the new ACAS Code of Practice and non-statutory guidance for employers.

We will be supporting smokers who choose to not smoke in October and will work with the Roy Castle community stop smoking service “Fagends” to promote ‘Stoptober’. If you or any of your colleagues wish to be supported to stop smoking please contact the HR team for more details.

It may feel too soon to be talking about Christmas but we are starting to get our team together to run the Liverpool Santa Dash on Sunday 7th December – if you would like to take part please contact communications@brothersofcharity.org.uk

Please keep your suggestions coming for any other promotions or initiatives you would like to see.

The next Health & Wellbeing Champions group meeting will take place on Monday 29th September at 10am in the Library at Thingwall Hall – if you are interested in attending please contact communications@brothersofcharity.org.uk

We look forward to hearing from you.
