On Sunday 4th June the people from Brothers of Charity Services in Merseyside took part in a Sponsored Walk up Moel Famau.
The sponsored walk was arranged by the Men’s Group, who invited everybody from the Merseyside Services to join in. An amazing 32 people signed up to take part in the sponsored walk, to raise money for Danielle, a member of staff who is trying to raise £10,000 for alternative treatments to help treat stage 4 cancer.
Everybody met at Thingwall Hall early in the morning, so they could travel to North Wales together, and after arriving at Moel Famau, they split up into smaller groups to walk up the mountain, and stayed together in their groups, making sure nobody was left behind.
Everybody wrapped up in warm clothing as the weather was very cold and windy for June. The fantastic view at the summit of Moel Famau made the leisurely walk worthwhile, as well as seeing the impressive remains of The Jubilee Tower. Whilst at the top, everyone enjoyed eating lunch together and took some time to take in the spectacular views at the highest point in the country park (554m!).
Michael, who took part in the walk, said ‘I really enjoyed the walk with everyone, although it was very windy walking up and cold at the top. We are looking forward to the next challenge!’
Everyone had a great day walking up Moel Famau, spending time with friends, and most of all, they enjoyed raising money for Danielle.
The fundraising Raffle, which has been organised by the Men’s Group, will now be held on the 15th June at the next Men’s Group Meeting.
So far the group has raised a fantastic £770! We will keep you updated on the final amount raised for Danielle from both of these fantastic events.
Staff and people we support both decided that they wanted to raise as much money as possible for their friend, colleague and much loved support worker Danielle who is currently undergoing alternative treatment for stage 4 cancer in Germany to give her the best chance to beat cancer.
You can donate to Danielle’s fund here.
