Achievements

Scott Dixon, Finance Apprentice at Brothers of Charity Services – Merseyside was awarded Apprentice of the Year by Wirral Met College on the 10th July 2014. This is a fantastic achievement which everyone at Brothers of Charity Services is extremely proud of, congratulations Scott!

Scott started working at Brothers of Charity Services in July 2011, when he commenced and successfully completed a business admin apprenticeship at Liverpool Community College, and in the workplace where he became a part of the finance department.

After successfully completing the Business Admin apprenticeship, he was then able to continue at Brothers of Charity Services in the role of finance assistant in 2012, and in September 2012 he undertook the AAT level 2 qualification in Accounting at Wirral Metropolitan College.

Scott commented “this was of real benefit to my skills and experience in my finance role, thus allowing me to gain a better understanding of general financial procedures that are essential in the running of a business. By May 2013 I passed the AAT level 2 certificate in accounting.”

In June 2013, following a re-structure in the finance department at the Brothers of Charity Services Scott applied for the role of finance apprentice and was successful. As a result, this enabled him to complete a wider range of tasks in the workplace in the finance department, as well as enrolling onto the AAT Level 3 qualification.

Scott said “I continued to apply my knowledge from my work here into my college work and vice versa, as well as being determined to overcome any problems that arose in any related situation; giving me confidence to use my skills to resolve such problems.”

In July 2014, it was confirmed that Scott had completed his AAT level 3 award in accounting; he achieved special recognition from his training provider (Wirral Met College) and was awarded Apprentice of the Year.

Scott said “I am really proud and grateful to have been awarded Apprentice of the Year by Wirral Met College. I will continue my studies while working at Brothers of Charity Services, starting the AAT Level 4 qualification in September this year. This will take around 2 years to complete, after which I then plan to undertake a professional qualification in Accounting.”
