The Health BOCS Football Tournament 2016

As part of their health and wellbeing initiative Health BOCS, and to mark Sports Relief the Brothers of Charity Services in England held two 5-A-Side football tournaments on the 18th March 2016. The tournaments were held in the grounds of their two main sites in the North West of England; Lisieux Hall in Chorley and Thingwall Hall in Broadgreen, Liverpool.

The Football tournament in Lancashire was held in the format of a cup with four teams, The A Team, FC Hands on Gardening, Heaton Street North End and The Fillies and were all a mix of members of staff and the people we support.

After two very exciting first matches, one going to penalties (A Team v Heaton Street North End) the final was between Heaton Street North End and The Fillies. It was a close match with many shots by each team and some great defense, especially by the goalkeepers. Both the players and the crowd had lots of fun throughout the event and really got behind each team. A special thanks goes to Jonathan who refereed all of the matches.

The Fillies ultimately won 2-0 and were presented medals by Heather Vickerman, Director of Care at the Brothers of Charity Services in Lancashire, the runners up – Heaton Street North End also received medals.

The results were:

Round 1

The A Team 3 – 3 Heaton Street North End (penalties 0-2)

FC Hands on Gardening 2-5 The Fillies

Final
